Exterior Waterproofing in Barrie
When a homeowner in Barrie faced persistent seepage and a wet basement, the Aquamaster team stepped in with a full-scope external waterproofing solution. Many homes in the Barrie area struggle with rising groundwater, heavy snowmelt, and clay-rich soils — this one was no different.
Diagnosis & Challenge
The crew found that the existing drainage system was failing and water was making its way through the foundation walls. Rather than simply treating symptoms inside the home, the strategy was to go outside the foundation and stop the water at its source — a reliable long-term fix.
Assessment and Preparation
We began by carefully excavating around 22 linear feet of the home’s foundation, reaching the footing level to expose the affected areas. All soil and debris were removed to allow full access for repair work. Once the foundation walls were cleaned and inspected, we injected hydraulic cement into visible cracks to seal any active leaks.
To create a smooth surface for waterproofing, a foundation primer was applied before layering with a rubberized waterproof membrane. This formed a flexible yet strong barrier against moisture. Over this layer, we installed a dimple drainage board to provide additional protection and direct water toward the footing drains.
Drainage and Finishing Work
Next, our crew installed new perforated weeping tiles wrapped in a non-woven geotextile filter fabric to prevent sediment buildup and ensure consistent water flow. The drain was surrounded with 3/4” clear gravel to improve filtration. Once all components were in place, the trench was backfilled with clean soil and graded to slope away from the foundation—redirecting surface water efficiently.
Result: A Dry, Protected Basement
After completing the project, the waterproofing system was thoroughly tested with a controlled water flow to confirm proper drainage and no seepage along the walls. The homeowner now enjoys a dry basement, free from musty odours or visible moisture.
